| As a part of the 2008 Men's Day Celebration, the Matthews Memorial Baptist Church, of Washington D.C. invited Dr. J.Alfred Smith Sr, senior pastor emeritus of the Allen Temple Baptist Church of Oakland, California to preach the 10:45 service. Pastor Smith was accompanied to Washington by the Allen Temple Male Chorus. |

| The Matthews Memorial Baptist church family extended hospitality to their Allen Temple guests in a number of ways. To list a few, the Matthews church provided complete transportation to and from the Dulles airport to the Radisson Hotel, a welcome snack, transportation from the Radisson Hotel to and from the Matthews Memorial campus, a personally guided sightseeing tour of the Capital area, not to mention a scrumptious fellowship meal after the 10:45 service. |
| Men's Day Sunday morning was an overcast and rainy time, but the weather conditions were soon forgotten once inside the Matthews Memorial spirit filled sanctuary. |
